Hello Everyone! It is with deep regret and sadness on my part and the Canadian Salsa Festival Committee that we have to announce the cancellation of the 2009 Canadian Salsa Festival (Ottawa Salsa Madness) due to poor tickets sales. This four (4) day event scheduled July 23rd - 26th at the Westin hotel in Ottawa, featured over 60 performances from Canada, USA & Europe, 40+ workshops, a salsa competition, 2 days beginner salsa bootcamp and live performance from the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. An effort has been maintained throughout the campaign to successfully produce our first salsa festival however due to certain unforeseen factors, including the current economic climate and sluggish ticket sales, Carlo Bernard (Chairman of the Festival) made the final and painful decision to pull the plug on this event. All tickets (including performers/vendors passes) will be refunded. Each order will be refunded to the credit cards and for those who paid via paypal, a cheque will be sent. You shall be contacted via telephone or email to discuss method of repayment for your pass. A new organizing committee volunteered to take over the festival and hopefully with the support of the local dance community, shall be able to stage a successful 2010 Salsa congress in Ottawa. Once again, we are sorry to disappoint you all. We are gutted to say the least. It could have been a great event. We just didn't sell enough tickets.
